The famous Blanche Dael nougat from Coffeelovers as a delicious bar. A tasty snack made according to a traditional recipe. Deliciously soft flavour.
An age-old delicacy
The first traces of nougat date back to the Byzantine Empire. Montélimar, a town in the south of France, is the place of origin of nougat. At that time, nougat was still called 'noix-gâteau' (nut biscuit). Later, this name has been changed to nougat. Willem Stuvé opened the first nougat stand on the market of Montélimar around 1870. Many travellers stopped in the southern village at Stuvé's stand to buy nougat. Montélimar is still the capital of nougat today.
Blanche Dael has a small selection of sweets that go beautifully with a cup of coffee or tea and are of the highest quality. These products are often locally produced or made based on a local recipe. A great example is the Mestreechse Peperkook, a gingerbread from the original recipe of Koekfabriek Franssen from the Wolfstraat 21. Koekfabriek Franssen was located across the street of our shop in the Wolfstraat 28, until the 80's. If our sweets are not made locally, we choose the best available, like chocolate from Brussels or nougat from Paris.
Our sweets and treats are packed by hand and with care in our roastery in Maastricht.
